We drank 2L of water every day for 4 weeks... Here’s what happened

In a world where wellness trends can become a quick come-and-go facade... hydration is a phenomenon that should be a key component in your daily habits. We are all too familiar with the supposed benefits of drinking 2 litres of water a day... better skin, improved digestion and a greater overall wellbeing, but we decided to put this to the test... At The Head Plan, we have always been avid 2L-of-water-a-day consumers (you only need to fill up your Daily Drench twice!), but we decided to fully commit to drinking at least 2L of water a day every single day for 4 weeks...  

 

Here’s what happened:  

 

Increased Energy 

 

As we mindfully stayed hydrated every day, we experienced an increase in our energy levels throughout the day without the 3pm slump! Did you know... Dehydration is the primary cause of fatigue. Being dehydrated, even mildly, by just 2% can knock you off your game for the afternoon – with decreased cognitive function, increased irritability and reduced concentration and focus levels. Nearly every system in the human body requires water to function... so it’s no surprise that when you forget to sip away throughout the day you are unable to perform at your best. Water plays a crucial role in maintaining healthy blood circulation, ensuring oxygen and nutrients are transported effectively throughout the body, supporting our energy levels. 

 

 

Less Frequent Snacking 

 

Sometimes thirst symptoms can be mistaken for hunger signals... Drinking enough water helped us distinguish between actual hunger and mere thirst. Quite frequently you can find yourself yawning by 3pm, reaching for a quick sugar fix. But by prioritising mindful hydration we didn’t experience this... not once! Proper hydration can help maintain blood sugar levels. When your blood sugar is unstable, you crave sugary snacks and that quick boost of energy, increasing the likelihood of heading to the vending machine or choosing unhealthy options. Water also aids digestion by helping to break down food more efficiently and facilitating the movement of food through the digestive tract, ensuring you are receiving all of the necessary nutrients to thrive and remain fuller for longer.  

 

Forming Healthy Habits  

 

By cultivating the habit of filling up your Daily Drench twice a day and mindfully hitting your motivational markers, you are re-affirming your ability to create healthy habits. To build a healthy habit, you need to make it visible. By keeping our Daily Drench readily available at our desk we were much more likely to stay hydrated as we sip away throughout the day because it remained in our eye line! We found it easiest to get into the habit of filling it up in the morning when we got to work and sipping on our first litre in the morning and throughout lunch and then filling up the second litre after lunch.   

 

The Glow  

 

We are GLOWING... Many claims have stated increased water intake will lead to healthier, glowy skin. And it’s true! We love a good skincare routine, and LOVE habit-stacking while we do our skincare by practicing positive affirmations, but by increasing our water intake we noticed a big difference in our skin becoming more radiant. It’s true what they say... you glow from the inside out! Drinking 2L of water will balance the water and oil content on your facial skin, preventing the buildup of excess oil, resulting in fewer clogged pores and breakouts. Water helps increase the elasticity in the skin as it stays moisturised for longer, delaying sagging and the premature appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.  

 

 

Actually achieving goals  

 

Water helps you achieve your goals. I know what you’re thinking... ‘yeah right’. BUT, we’re not lying. Increased water intake provides increased mental clarity, enabling you to hyper focus on your goals. As you remain focused and hydrated, you are more likely to align your actions and actively pursue your goals! Hydration is not a mere facade or a myth... we experienced real life benefits and will be continuing to drink 2 Daily Drench a day!
